R. Christian van den Bos, Ph.D.
Founder and lead consultant
Dr. Christian van den Bos has gained extensive practical expertise in advanced therapies (ATMPs) as well as parenteral/vaccine manufacturing programs in than 25 years of leading production, quality and C-level management functions in Germany, Switzerland, the USA, the UK and India, as well as more than a decade of consulting; including Vaxzevria, a COVID-19 vaccine, and rVSV-ZEBOV, an Ebola vaccine and ABBV-RGX-314, a gene therapeutic aimed at macula degeneration.
He has facilitated important logistics projects in the life science and pharmaceutical sectors by designing/implementing quality systems and genetic engineering plants and leading them to approval.
Christian van den Bos has extensive experience in leading innovation and technology programs. At Lonza, he established and led a global innovation unit that became a major revenue hub. At ICL Innovation, he was responsible for the identification and evaluation of new technologies. Beyond this, he advised global chemical concerns on innovation for life science products.
He is authorised as Qualified Person under the EU/German and UK Medicines Directives as well as GMO Project lead under the German Genetic Engineering Act (GenTG).
Also, he serves as scientific lead of the Advanced Medicinal Products Working Group of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and supports the revision of UK regulatory guidance for advanced therapies.
Dr. van den Bos holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, UK, a PhD from the University of Münster, did postdoctoral research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories, USA. He holds several patents for cellular therapies and is the author of over 30 scientific publications and book chapters.
Dr. Rascha Sayed
GMP Manager and Principal Scientist
Dr. Rascha Sayed brings a profound scientific basis to GMP and quality management at Mares ITX GmbH, where she serves as GMP Manager and Principal Scientist. Since 2022 she has been certified by TÜV Hessen as GMP Expert and Quality Management Officer (QMB).
Her scientific background is unusually extensive: she holds a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Münster and completed postdoctoral research in functional genomics, RNA-seq and gene network analysis, the results of which she published as first author in Nature Communications in 2025. She holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Microbial Ecology and a B.Sc in Zoology from Al-Azhar University in Egypt. At Wageningen University, she completed a research fellowship where she contributed to an international tomato genome sequencing consortium.
Dr. Sayed applies computational and bioinformatics tools, including R and BioPython - her expertise complements Dr. van den Bos' decades of operational and regulatory experience.
